(Walla Walla, WA) The 17th Washington Women’s Mid-Amateur Championships were held at the legendary Walla Walla Country Club, a course that dates back to the 1890s. The 54-hole tournament took place over the last three days, and a familiar name emerged as the champion.
Issaquah’s Tina Papatolis won her third Washington Women’s Mid-Am Championship and her second in a row after taking last year’s title. Papatolis led wire-to-wire en route to another dominating performance. Papatolis started her week with an even-par round of 72 to take a three-shot lead. She shot a three-over round of 75 to hold the round of the day in the second round. Despite only one birdie and a final round 80, Papatolis cruised to a five-shot victory to take the title for the second consecutive year at 11-over for the week.
Richland’s Brooke Henderson took second place at 16-over for the championship. Henderson had the low round in the final round, shooting 79. Taking third place was Puyallup’s Desirae Clarke at 26-over par for the week.
