Bellarmine Prep 5, Olympia 0

(Olympia, WA) The Bellarmine Prep Lions and Olympia Bears came in with identical 1-0-1 records but the Lions were ready to show there is quite a difference between the 2 teams and ran the Bears off their feet cruising to a 5-0 shut-out win.

BP got started in the 18th minute when Max Hilger knocked a shot off the underside of the crossbar where Oly Keeper Matteo Delguidice had little chance to defend giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Kyle Casey got in the act in the 37th minute to give the Lions a 2-0 lead which they would take to the halftime break.

As the 2nd half began it appeared the Bears were ready to make a run and they attacked immediately with Khalil Bredeson, Phillip Hong and Dawit Kiley. The 3 made a significant run but BP keeper Sean Carlin came up with the ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game smothering a shot just in front of the goal line. Had the Bears scored it would have been 2-1 BP still leading but they would have re-started at nid-field. Instead, the Lions counter attacked and Casey finished it off with his 2nd goal in the 45th minute to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.

Casey would get his hat trick in the 50th minute as the Lions stepped up their tempo with extended runs and multiple attacks. BP finished off the scoring in the 66th minute on a beautiful back heel pass from Casey to defender Tommy Martin who fired and scored giving the Lions a 5-0 lead which would be the end result.

The Lions improve to 2-0-1 while the Bears dropped to 1-1-1. Our Tommy Lowe of the Greene Realty Group Players of the Game went to Bellarmine Prep’s Kyle Casey and to Olympia’s Khalil Bredeson.
