(Camas, WA) Second half the the basketball season is under way and the Union Titan girls may be the new team on the block. The lady Titans stood toe to toe with the rival Papermakers for 32 minutes before losing this conference tilt 51-42.

Emma Jones and Stephanie Knight each tallied 14  points. Knight came off the bench to get all her points.

For the Titans this was their first game under new head coach Gary Mills who replaced Kelly Blankenship who was placed on administrative leave by the Evergreen School district earlier in the day. Mills will finish out the season. Abby Forsyth scored 13 points in a losing effort. The Titans seemed to play with more focus and determination last night and I’m sure the Papermakers breathed a huge sigh of relief after the final buzzer.

Union’s record now goes to 3-5 in conference and 7-8 for the season. The Papermakers will go to 7-1 in conference and 14-2 for the season. They will remain in first place in the conference.
